Teacher Mentorship Program
In 2022, I/ITSEC launched the Teacher Mentorship Program as a part of the EcosySTEM of Learning. NTSA believes that teachers are directly impactful on the students they teach and wants to help give teachers the tools to impact students through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programming, career information, and the information needed to help students pursue pathways to exciting and well-paying jobs.
Get Involved! Interested industry partners collaborate with a school when volunteering for the Teacher Mentorship Program. They coordinate programming with their partner teacher and classroom a minimum of one time per quarter (aka a minimum of four times a year) throughout the two-year program. Engagement can be done virtually or in-person, but in-person is the preferred to help build relationships and grow tomorrow’s leaders.
Suggested activities include:
- Providing guest speakers
- Providing facility tours
- Teaching tangible hard skills
- Working with students on resumes/networking/mock interviews/etc.
- Job shadowing
- Conducting a workshop/seminar with students
- Exploring student internship and teacher externship possibilities
- Videos (tours, interviews, career opportunities)
